Lovely Debate

Last night's Dem debate was by far the most romantic I have ever seen. I would not have been suprised to see those two hug for a prolonged period of time after the ceremonies. It was obviously no more than charade to prove how much more peaceful they can be than the republicans, as if the last month never even happend.

On a seperate note, I've made up my mind. I will not under any circumstances vote for McCain. I would rather see a true liberal in office than a liberal disguised as a republican. The negative consequences of 'reaching across the aisle' to achieve a cap and trade campaign will ruin our economy and the principles that America was founded on. McCain will obliderate the free market. That is the job of a democrat and I would rather ensure that if that is to happen that it is brought about and associated with a democrat.

Off to see Romney in Denver!

Sicko

Have a seat Michael. Let me explain a few things to you. I know it is your business to make money off of the lowest common denominator, but I think even they can see your motivation here. Call it what it is. You make sarcastic scenes about communist invasion a laughable matter in your movie, but come on out with it. You are a communist. Don't dance around it anymore. This is the most blatant piece of propaganda, even to someone who isn't looking for it. I would appreciate your work so much more if you would just call it what it is. Don't be ashamed. Mmmk?
The truth is, as heartless as you want me to feel, I don't want to pay for everyone elses medical treatment. I never go to the doctor and if I ever need to I have done the work necessary to make sure I have enough insurance. I don't want to pay the bill for folks who think that going to the doctor is as necessary as going to the grocery store. Medical care is a commodity just like everything else.
If you want the best you need to give someone a reason to be the best. That could be mistaken for money, incentive, achievement. I know capitalism is a risky venture, but progress doesn't reproduce asexually. Opportunity and freedom breed innovation. I know you hate big business, but you love medical care. Did you know that the MRI machine was first marketed by GE? Don't let that mess with your conscience the next time your getting that back looked at. Also, this dirty capitalistic society produces the most new medicine and drugs of any other country. It's darn expensive, but it's the best. So the fact that those other countries you explored are kicking back and enjoying the medical innovations produced by the greatest country in the world the appeal begins to make perfect sense. It just makes it hard for those of us over here who are already pulling their weight and we haven't even completely socialized medicine yet. Think about it. France is a romantic place, Canada is a nice place and Cuba can roll 'em really well but when is the last time any of those countries made a medical breakthrough of any kind? Scratch that, when is the last time they produced anything useful to any of us at all? They like Coke and iPods but shame on us for not giving away medical treatment.
While others love the idea of releasing the responsibility of their health and finances to the government, I don't. I like efficiency. I like not having to pay for something I don't use. I like deciding who is worthy of my donations and who is not.
I will concede one point to you. Medical insurance is wack! It is unjust and unethical at times. They are only out to make money. I don't blame them. I blame us for letting them go unchecked. It is my job to find the best and punish them if they break their word. If you don't understand this system it will eat you alive and that is what has happened with the HMOs. I like capitalism because it uses man's own greed against him. That is true for any big business in this system. Don't buy it and they'll perfect it until you do. I guarantee you that.
Did we not learn our lesson with social security? If any enterprize was getting no bid contracts from everyone in the country with no competition whatsoever we would be aghast and demand the destruction of that monopoly, unless of course that enterprize is the government. In that case we celebrate it? Medical care is expensive enough after taxes. I would hate to see what it would be like before taxes when it just flutters away and lands in the pocket of some bureaucrat/doctor. The new term I believe will be 'going medical' relieving our friendly postal workers of the sad label they have suffered for so long.
So my review of Sicko? I still haven't decided how I feel exactly. I would however be totally sold on socialized animal medcine. My great dane is going to need a new hip soon and I don't feel like I should be the only one that has to pay for it!
